General hospitals across Southern Kaduna may soon witness a major transformation as medical equipment valued at over eight billion naira is set to be delivered to ten facilities in the district.

The intervention is from the collaboration between Senator Sunday Katung and the state government aimed at filling critical gaps in healthcare infrastructure.

Across many general hospitals in Southern Kaduna, obsolete and inadequate equipment has long constrained service delivery, forcing patients to travel long distances in search of specialised care.

Following a needs assessment tour of general hospitals in Kagarko, Kachia, Sanga, Kafanchan and Zonkwa, Senator Sunday Marshall Katung says facilities across the zone will soon be better equipped to meet the healthcare needs of residents, as medical equipment will be supplied to ten hospitals in the district.

The first phase of the intervention will focus on the five hospitals assessed during the tour.

Officials say the equipment will be tailored to the specific needs of each facility to ensure functionality and measurable impact on patient care.

Local government chairmen and members of the Kaduna State House of Assembly representing the benefiting constituencies have described the intervention as timely, noting that properly equipped hospitals will reduce referrals, lower treatment costs and restore confidence in public healthcare.

When the ten hospitals are fully equipped, stakeholders say the initiative is expected to significantly strengthen healthcare capacity and improve outcomes for thousands of residents across Southern Kaduna.
