At least one person is feared dead and about 14 others sustained various degree of injuries in a clash between Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, thugs and those of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Gusau, the Zamfara State capital, North-West Nigeria.

The incident was said to have occurred near the residence of the PDP Governorship candidate in Zamfara State, Dr. Dauda Lawal-Dare.

The PDP was holding an occasion to receive 30,000 defectors from the 14 local government areas of the State who dumped the ruling APC to join forces with its Governorship candidate to unseat the incumbent Governor, Bello Mohammed in next year’s general election.

Eyewitness accounts say that while the PDP was holding their event near the residence of the party’s Governorship candidate, some political thugs of the ruling party invaded the venue and started to attack its supporters and destroy their campaign vehicle.
The 14 victims who sustained injuries were rushed to Yariman Bakura Specialist Hospital in Gusau, where they are currently receiving treatment.
