The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP says it is consulting among members of the minority caucus of the 10th Senate over the minority leadership positions in the upper chamber.
Rising from its National Working Committee meeting in Abuja on Tuesday, the PDP has resolved to convey the list of nominated members to the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio.

The move is seen as an attempt by the PDP to take full charge of the process of who emerges as Minority Leaders in order to provide effective opposition in the APC-controlled Senate.
This is coming amid reports that certain forces in the PDP with cordial relationship with the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, want to influence the emergence of a compliant Minority Leaders that will offer weak opposition in the Senate.
The Senate is expected to name its Principal Officers when it resumes plenary on Tuesday, July 4.
In a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, the PDP which has 36 seats in the Senate “stressed the need to provide a stable opposition at the National Assembly”.
