12 passengers injured as U.S airline makes emergency landing in Lagos

The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau, NSIB says it has commenced investigation into the emergency landing of Boeing 787-8 flight belonging to United States, U.S carrier, United Airlines heading to Washington Dulles International Airport from Murtala Mohammed International Airport on Thursday.

This was confirmed to AIT.live via telephone interview with the Bureau, to immediately make available to the public the outcome of the findings as soon as possible after ascertaining the real cause of the incident.

AIT.live gathered that the airplane had established a return track to Lagos but the aircraft crew maintained the emergency signal with the control tower till it landed.

Initially, the aircraft with registered number N27903 was said to be carrying 245 travellers, eight flight attendants and three pilots when the incident occurred.

It was also reported that The aircraft was an over 13-year-old widebody.

AIT.live also contacted, the Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, Micheal Achimugu who confirmed the development, saying the passengers have been lodged in a hotel as stipulated by the regulatory act.

On its social media handle X, The US-owned United airlines also confirmed the development, attributing it to “a technical fault”

The statement further noted that first responders immediately swung into action to address reports of minor injuries to several air passengers as the technical issue is been addressed.

About 12 air passengers were injured when the U.S-bound plane developed technical fault, and returned to Lagos for safe emergency landing.
