The acting coordinator of Abuja zone of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, professor Gbolahan Bolarin wants the federal Government to sincerely take actions to save university students from being affected by another industrial action.
Professor Bolarin said this in Lafia, the Nasarawa state capital noting that the additional 14 days given by the union which started from Monday September 23 was part of the resolutions of the union’s National Executive Council meeting held at the university of Ibadan in August.
Bolarin said the notice became necessary as government has continued to foot drag on agreements reached to address their plight.

He said the issues in contention include; the release of withheld three-and-half months’ salaries due
to the union’s 2022 strike action, unpaid salaries for staff on sabbatical and part-
time affected by the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS); as well as outstanding third-party deductions like check-off dues and cooperative contributions.
The ASUU zonal coordinator also stated that the proliferation of universities in the country is a big challenge as the existing ones are not properly funded.
