The police have confirmed the death of 18 persons in a boat that capsized on the River Buji in Itas Gadau Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
A statement signed by the Command’s spokesperson, Ahmed Wakil said one Nuhu Kaila of Zango Majiya Village, while carrying about 23 person in a boat from Zango Majiya to farm, on reaching the middle of River Buji, the boat capsized.

According to the statement, a team of policemen was drafted to the river to remove the victims and rush them to Itas Gadau General Hospital, for postmortem examination where 18 persons were certified dead, while 5 others survived the mishap.
