Two alleged unrepentant bandits have been killed and three others captured alive in Zamfara State by the military Operation Sahel Sanity, a subsidiary of Operation Hadarin Daji.

Troops have also rescued five kidnapped victims.

Following a hot pursuit, the kidnappers abandoned their captives, who were promptly rescued by the troops and reunited with their families.

The troops also arrested a suspected notorious gun runner named Musa Abubakar from Mai Wake village at Maradi in Niger Republic.

He was arrested at the premises of a school in Gusau Metropolis, where his relative works as security guard.

The Acting Director, Defence Media Operations, Brigadier General Benard Onyeuko says, the suspected gun runner is believed to be involved in the supply of illicit arms from the Niger Republic.

He says, troops conducted Cordon and Search Operation at Gurbin Baure, after engaging five fleeing bandits, in which process, two were neutralized and three captured alive.
