Local divers have recovered the bodies of twenty victims of the boat mishap which occurred on Wednesday. Twenty passengers have also been rescued by the divers.
The passenger boat was conveying about one hundred and eighty passengers, mainly traders from Loko Mina community in Niger State to a market in Kebbi.

Governor Abubakar Bello of Niger State has described the incident as pathetic and unfortunate. He urged the families, friends, and associates of the victims to take the incident as an act of Allah.
A statement by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mary Berje, said the search to recover the remaining victims will continue.
