After 5 days of the abduction of 20 medical students travelling within Benue State enroute Enugu for a religious programme, the victims are yet to be released, with no information on whether contacts have been made by their abductors.
The students were on their way to attend the annual Federation of Catholic Medical and Dental Students (FECAMDS) convention in Enugu State when they were ambushed last Thursday evening by gunmen.
They include medical students from the University of Maiduguri, Borno State and those from the University of Jos in Plateau State.
They were said to be traveling together when the attack occurred around 5:30 p.m. in the Otukpo area of Benue State.
The spokesperson for the Benue State Police Command, Catherine Anene had confirmed the incident, stating that an investigation had been launched into the abduction.
When ait live News reached out the Benue Police Command PRO on Tuesday for update on the incident, she responded via a text message, that there is no update yet.
