No fewer than 2000 residents in Owerri, the Imo State capital, South East Nigeria have benefitted from a free medical treatment initiated by the Imo State government

The beneficiaries were treated of several ailments including; eye surgery, dental and glottis tumor surgeries, caesarean sections, among others.

The services were conducted by a team of Imo State born medical practitioners in the diaspora.

It was a 10-day free medical outreach to engender quality health and life for aged persons, youths, women and children who may not have access to periodic medical check ups, and those who cannot afford their medical bills.

Leader of the medical doctors from diaspora, Doctor Chinaka Nwosu commended the initiative saying it gives an opportunity for everyone to know their health status and called for more sponsors to enable the programme get to the rural communities.
