The Abia State Government in South-East Nigeria confirms death of 28-year old man in fresh outbreak of Lassa fever in Olokoro, Umuahia South Local Government Area of the State.
Briefing news men in Umuahia, the state capital, Permanent Secretary Ministry of Health, Emole Egbulefu says there is no cause for alarm
as government is on top of the situation.
He stated that all the persons who came in contacts with the
index patient that died at a hospital in Umuahia have been placed on serious surveillance so members of the
public should not panic.
The Permanent Secretary while calling on Abia residents to rid their homes of rats further advised those
with fever to report to hospital for early diagnosis.
