Ahead of next week’s re-run elections in some federal and state constituencies in Kano State, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC says it will not deploy any youth corps member as ad-hoc staff to Bebeji Local Government Area for security reasons.
State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Professor Riskuwa Shehu made this known at the stakeholders in preparation for the January 25, 2020 re-run elections.
The Appeal Court ordered re-run elections in three federal and four state constituencies in Kano.
The re-run election will hold in all polling units in the Tudun Wada/Doguwa and Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituencies while only 2 polling units will be involved in the re-run election in Kumbotso Federal Constituency.

Similarly, re-run election will hold in a total of twelve polling units in four state constituencies including Rogo, Bunkure, Madobi and Minjibir.
The Commission has assured stakeholders of its preparedness to conduct credible election warning however that it will not hesitate to suspend the election where violence erupts.
Professor Shehu told the meeting that security is paramount for the conduct of the election, saying INEC is in liaison with security agencies to secure election officials and voters.
Heads of security agencies in the state assured the stakeholders of their neutrality during the election. Those who attended the meeting include political parties, civil society organisations, religious and traditional leaders.
