Ahead of the 2027 general election the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC is set to fully operationalise section 65 of the 2022 Electoral Act which provides for possible review of election results within seven days after declaration of winner.
This is with preparation of regulations and guidelines for the implementation following what the Commission describes as it concerns with the various interpretations being given to this particular provision of the electoral law.

INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu was speaking at the second quarterly consultative meeting with Resident Electoral Commissioners, RECs at the election management body’s headquarters in Abuja.
Professor Yakubu asked the Resident Electoral Commissioners do their job diligently and to be transparent in their operations and take the issues of security seriously at all times.
