Nigeria’s Super Eagles extended their grip as Group C leaders of 2022 Qatar World Cup qualifiers after a two-one-away victory over the blue sharks of Cape Verde on Tuesday in Mindelo, the capital of the island nation.

The blue sharks drew the first blood through Dylan Tavares 19th minute point-blank shot at goal which Nigeria’s goalkeeper, C failed to deal with.

ten minutes later, the eagles replied with an equalizer through Victor Osimhen who capitalized on a spilled ball by the Cape Verdean goalkeeper to restore parity.

An own goal by Kenny Santos in the 77th minute sealed the vital win for coach Gernot Rohr’s team.
