2023 Africa Games: Nigeria on course for Table Tennis Team Gold

Nigeria Table Tennis contingent to the 2023 Africa Games in Ghana are through to the finals of the team event in both the men and women categories.

In the women’s event, Nigeria defeated South Africa three love in the semi-final on Thursday.

Bronze medalist in the women’s singles, Offiong Edem defeated Musfihu Kalam in straight sets, 11- 9, 11- 4, 11- 9 to put Nigeria two love up after the second rubber.

Esther Oribamise needed the fifth set to complete the onslaught in the third rubber. She came back from a game down to beat Rochicha Sonday 9-11, 11- 8, 11-6, 9-11, 11-9.

Nigeria will face Egypt in gold medal matches in the men’s and women’s events this Friday. In the men’s game Nigeria subdued Tunisia three one while Egypt progressed three love against Algeria.

Meanwhile, Nigeria’s men football team lost to Uganda 2-1 in their opening match.

The official opening ceremony for the 13th African Games holds on Friday, March 8 at the Accra Sports Complex in Accra.
