Former vice president and presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar on Wednesday met with the Senate PDP Caucus to commence moves to reconcile aggrieved members of the party ahead of the 2023 general elections.
In attendance were the party’s vice presidential candidate and Delta Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, PDP National Chairman and former Senate President Iyorchia Ayu, and some stakeholders of the party.
Addressing the meeting, Atiku Abubakar vowed to unite the party in order to wrestle power from the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, in the 2023 general elections.
He commended the lawmakers for their legislative support in improving on the country’s electoral process with the recent amendment and passage of 2022 Electoral Act.

In his submission, the Senate Minority Leader and lawmaker representing FCT, Philip Aduda sid the meeting with the presidential and vice presidential candidates was the first phase of reconciliation to ensure that the party is united and formidable ahead of 2023.
Aduda revealed that the next point of call for the PDP Caucus is to meet with the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike to address some areas of concern.
He assured the former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar that the National Assembly PDP Caucus will work to ensure the party’s victory is unfettered.
The likes of Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike, Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom and some others are believed to be unhappy over Atiku Abubakar’s choice of running mate.
