The National Population Commission (NPC), has expressed concern over the non-expression of interest by the Cross River State Government, as the April 2023 National Population Census gets closer.
This challenge, the commission says, can impede the smooth conduct of the 2023 Census in the state, especially in the area of data collection, despite the readiness of the Federal Government.

The Commissioner representing Cross River State in the Commission’s Board, Retired Captain Charles Ogwa, made this known during a one-day media interface workshop organised by the commission in Calabar.
He said all efforts to get the Cross River State Government to buy into the exercise have proved abortive.
The State Director of NPC, Bassey Etengs, called on the media to partner with the commission for more advocacy and information on the exercise, which he said is very important.
The workshop was organised to create public awareness of the conduct of the 2023 Census, including its imperatives, methodology and timeliness, which the public need to know.
