Nine political parties in Edo State have signed a peace accord toward a successful general election devoid of violence and rancour.
The signing of the accord which was witnessed by the heads of security agencies led by the Edo state commissioner of police, Muhammed Dankwara is aimed at ensuring violence-free polls come February 25.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner for the State, Obo Effanga, and civil society organizations solicited the support and cooperation of political parties and their candidates towards achieving successful and credible elections.

Nine political parties’ representatives including the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, All Progressives Congress, APC, and Labour Party, LP, were present to sign the peace accord and promised to abide by the rules of engagement but urged the electoral umpire to be transparent in its dealings.
The conclusion at the end of the meeting was for all parties not to see the election as a do-or-die affair.
