The Speaker, House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila has called on eligible Nigerian citizens yet to secure their Permanent Voters Card (PVC) to do so within the window provided by the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC).
Gbajabiamila gave the call at an event, in Ebonyi State to mark the closing of a week-long advocacy campaign on the promotion of active voters’ participation in the forthcoming 2023 general elections.
The programme organized by the member representing Ezza South/Ikwo Federal constituency, Chinedu Ogah encouraged hundreds of qualified citizens to turn up for the ongoing voters registration exercise in the area.
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, who was represented by Abdullahi Sa’ad Abdulkadir, the lawmaker representing Ningi /Warji, Federal Constituency of Bauchi State, called on citizens to see their registration and collection of their PVCs as a civic responsibility.
This was as Ogah expressed optimistism that the extension of the voters registration exercise deadline by INEC will give millions of Nigerians who would have been denied voting opportunities a chance to exercise their franchise.
The electoral body in the Ebonyi State said the total number of newly registered voters between June 2021 and June 2022 stood at 19,294.
