A federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt has granted the Rivers state chapter of the peoples democratic party PDP application for joinder in the suit seeking to disqualify all national Assembly candidates of the Accord in the state.
Justice STEPHEN DAYLOP-PAM in his ruling on two pending motions before him also struck out the motion by Accord seeking to strike out the suit by the PDP for wrongly suing the Accord Party instead of Accord.
When the matter came up for ruling today after justice Steven Day-lop Pam had listened to arguments by both counsels almost a forth night ago,he held that there was merit in the application by the PDP on the issue of joinder for parties interested in the suit and that the motion by Accord be struck out for lack of merit.
According to justice Daylop-Pam,the accord’s prayer could not sail through because the plaintiff knew who was sued.
Justice Daylop-Pam there after adjourned hearing of the substantive matter to the 18th of October, 2022.
Speaking to newsmen outside the courtroom, Counsel to Accord, Abdullahi Mohammed, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria said they will study the ruling and advise their clients appropriately on the next line of action.
On his part, the governorship candidate of Accord Party, Dumo lulu-Briggs, said he now understood why the Rivers State All Progressives Congress APC asked the judge to recuse himself from their matter.
The Counsels to PDP declined to speak on the ruling of the court.
