Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma has expressed the commitment of his administration to support the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) towards achieving its challenging tasks.
The Governor gave the assurance when he received INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner for Imo State, Prof. Francis Ezeonu and his team on a courtesy call at the Government House, Owerri.
It was the first official visit by the INEC Commissioner to Government House since Uzodimma took over as the Governor of Imo State.
Uzodimma in his speech lauded the wisdom of INEC in creating new and additional polling units across the country ahead of the 2023 general election, noting that the conversion of former voting points to polling units was a great decision.

The Governor reiterated the willingness of his government to support the INEC ahead of the 2023 general election.
Earlier in his opening remarks, Francis Ezeonu told the Governor that Imo State is trailing behind other States in the South East in respect of the number registered voters going by statistics as at January 10, 2022.
He however blamed the low turnout on insecurity, and called on those who want to register to do so, either through the INEC registration centres in Local Government Areas or through INEC voters’ enrolment device.
