Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike says the 2023 general elections will be between the people of the state and all those, especially Rivers sons who have betrayed the state because of what they stood to gain, materially.

Speaking at a PDP campaign rally in Port Harcourt on Wednesday, Governor Wike also denied allegations of violence labeled against the PDP by other opposition parties in Rivers State, describing it as the handiwork of political parties who have refused to comply with the law on the use of public facilities, such as schools.

Port Harcourt local government area has the second largest votes and a stronghold of the PDP since 1999.

The Rivers State capital, Port Harcourt has in the last seven and a half years enjoyed significantly from the fountain of projects provided across Rivers state by the Nyesom Wike administration.

It therefore didn’t come as a surprise to see the people troop out in their hundreds to welcome Governor Wike and pledged their votes to the PDP Governorship candidate Sim Fubara and other members of the ‘Consolidation and Continuity’ team.

Sim Fubara says Port Harcourt will continue to enjoy projects under his watch as Governor.

On his part, Governor Wike says the 2023 general elections will be between Rivers people and all those who have betrayed the state and therefore, calling on Rivers sons working against the interest of their state to retrace their steps.

The Governor also described the allegations of violence labeled against the PDP by other political parties as nothing but lies and false propaganda.

He says all those crying foul are members of political parties that have refused to comply with the law on the use of public facilities, such as schools.

The Governor also wants the Police to be alive to its responsibility by ensuring that every political party complies with the rules of the game.

Nyesom Wike says he would not respond to a former governorship candidate of the APC Dakuku Peterside, who has asked him to announce to the world his preferred presidential candidate.
