Senate President and presidential aspirant under the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Ahmed Lawan, has said that they are yet to completely win the war against Boko Haram in the North East, and the terrorists in the North West regions.
Lawan who made this known while meeting with Katsina National Delegates ahead of the presidential primaries, also said he will completely win the war when he becomes the President of the country.
He said he will build on the successes recorded by the President Muhammadu Buhari led government.
It is Lawan’s first outing with the delegates, ahead of the presidential primaries.
The Senate President, Ahmed Lawan, is beginning from Katsina State, to receive their blessings.
According to the Senate President, though President Muhammadu Buhari has done well in the fight against insecurity, he has not completely won the war.
He, therefore, promised to intensify efforts towards, and develop new strategies, to completely win the war, as soon as he becomes the President in 2023.
Lawan further said, he is banking on his experience as the Senate President and having worked closely with President Buhari, as well as tapping the knowledge of Governor Aminu Masari to perform creditably well in office.
He also promised the delegates that more economic strategies will be developed, to ensure that the youths and the most vulnerable are empowered for sustainability and national development.
Lawan added that even though they have not made impactful legislation to better the lives of Nigerians, he will do so when he assumes office.
Governor Aminu Masari appreciated the gesture and honour bestowed on the state by Lawan to begin his consultations with delegates from Katsina.
He told the Senate President that Katsina delegates know what to do, after listening to him, saying both of them have come a long way politically and otherwise.
The meeting later continued behind closed doors.
