2023: Obong of Calabar urges Traditional Rulers to pray for violence- free Elections

Obong of Calabar

The Obong of Calabar, Edidem Ekpo-Okon Abasi-Otu V has called on tradtional rulers across the country to pray against violence that can threaten free and fair elections in Nigeria Come 2023.

The Efik monarch gave the advice during the eleventh Utomo Obong which is an annual celebration to pay the first class king an annual homage in his country home of Adiabo,Calabar, praying that the 2023 election should be the best in the history of Nigeria.

He said traditional rulers have a role to play in ensuring that the 2023 election remained violence-free,insisting that unity and progress of Nigeria is not negotiable.

Leaders of the tribes and political parties , who spoke at the event said
with BVAS, the era of violent elections were gone as they registered their support to join in the PVC collection advocacy.

The Annual Efik cultural festival in Cross River had in the past witnessed peaceful settlement of communal clashes and other forms of ethnic disagreement in the state.
