The African Democratic Congress, ADC has called on the federal government not to saddle only the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC to prosecute offenders of vote buying during elections but to also allow other related agencies to join the anti-graft agency in tackling the growing trend ahead of the 2023 general elections.
The party, while unveiling the membership and presenting certificate of return to a Nollywood actress, Tonto Dike as the Rivers state’s deputy governorship candidate for the ADC in Abuja, said if government fails to enable other related agencies to put an end to the menace on time, it will undermine the credibility of the 2023 polls.
After receiving the certificate of return, Tonto Dike raised concern over poor inclusiveness of the Nigerian youths and appealed to them to come out in large numbers and participate in the ongoing Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC’s continuous voters registration towards empowering themselves to be part of decision-making in building the nation.
Dike is the second female deputy governorship candidate for Rivers state to have emerged from the African democratic congress after the Akwa Ibom’s deputy governorship candidate for the 2023 general elections.
