2024 Borno Budget: Zulum Allocates Big Shares To Health, Education And Works

Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum, has presented a budget of N340 billion for the 2024 fiscal year.
From this, health, education, and works received major allocations.

Health received 51 billion Naira, Education 39 billion, while Works and Housing received 45 billion Naira.
Tagged “Budget of Consolidation and Progress,” a total of 198.3 billion Naira, was allocated for capital expenditure, while 142.33 billion, was allocated for recurrent expenditure.
The budget, Zulum noted, will be financed from the recurrent revenue of 206.8 billion Naira, which comprises the Federation Account Allocation Committee, FAAC revenue, and Internally Generated Revenue, (IGR), and capital receipts of 128.82 billion Naira.
According to the sectorial allocations, the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development got the Lions share.

“the sum of N53,808, 771,000.00 has been allocated for its capital and recurrent expenditures including Borno State Internal Revenue Service, Borno state Debt Management Office (DMO), and the office of the Accountant-General.”
Other sectors, like the Ministry of Agriculture, got 13 billion Naira while the Ministry of Reconstruction, Rehabilitation and Resettlement got 20 billion, among others.
The Speaker of the Borno State House of Assembly, Abdulkarim Lawan, commended Governor Zulum for his achievements over the years.
He assured the Governor of the Assembly’s resolve and commitment, to pass the appropriation bill on time.
Meanwhile, Governor Babagana Zulum has promised that whoever succeeds him will not inherit debts owed by the state government.
He also listed 46 deliverables he plans to achieve across the sectors in the 2024 fiscal year.
