Prelate of Methodist Church Nigeria, His Eminence, Most Reverend Dr. Oliver Abba has called on Christians to embrace attributes of faithfulness, sincerity, humility and continue in acts of nation building for Nigeria to be positively transformed.
Most Reverend Aba who also condemned the recent killing of soldiers in Delta State enjoined Christians to shun acts of wickedness against one another and embrace the message of peace and love which defines the essence of the Easter celebration.
And the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Abeokuta, Ogun State, Most Reverend Peter Olukayode Odetoyinbo has decried current economic hardship in Nigeria, calling on government to find ways of bringing down prices of food commodities and other essential items.
Odeyotinbo who made the call in Abeokuta on Sunday as part of his Easter message, advised citizens to adjust to the realities of the time, and not expect too much from government, whom he said may not be in the best position presently to meet all the demands and expectations of Nigerians.
The Catholic Bishop in his message also noted that maintaing peace and ensuring adequate security is everyone’s business that should not be left solely in the hands of government. He enjoined Christians to live in peace with others, irrespective of religious and ethnic affiliations.
The Catholic Archbishop of the Kaduna, Most Reverend Matthew Ndagaso and his Anglican counterpart, Most Reverend Timothy Yahaya have urged Nigerians not to allow the failures of politicians to crush their dreams, despite the socio-economic challenges faced by the country.
The clergymen said this in their separate Easter message in Kaduna emphasising the necessity of national reorientation and rebirth for the country to reclaim its lost glory.
Meanwhile, Bishop Theophilus Shadrach of the Lutheran Church of Christ in Nigeria, LCCN Yola Diocese in Adamawa State has enjoined Christians and non-Christians to use the Easter to improve on their love for humanity.
The Bishop who said this during his Easter sermon at the LCCN Cathedral Yola described death of Jesus Christ on the cross to atone for mankind as a sacrifice like no other.
He told the congregation that drive of Jesus to save humanity from eternal condemnation through death on the cross made him to overcome the fear of the terror of the grave.
He admonished the faithful to emulate the lifestyle of Christ whose love defied all discomforts until he defeated death on the Cross of Calvary.
Victory songs and ministrations on the resurrection of Christ from the dead featured during the service.
