Not fewer than One thousand households from Six out of sixteen most devastated flood affected local governments during the 2024 flood in Bauchi state have received relief materials, including consumables and 75 thousand Naira cash transfer from the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS ) Flood Response project.
This was made known during a grand finale of the distribution of the relief materials held at Bauchi Government house to the remaining 150 victims of the flood disaster from Kirfi local government area of the state.

The Assessment by the Bauchi State Emergency Management SEMA, indicated that the 2024 flood disaster in Bauchi state affected Sixteen local governments with over Thirty thousand households, two hundred thousand individuals, Twenty four deaths (24) with properties, houses, farmlands submerged.
Out of this Number, 1000 victims from the most devastating six local governments of Jamare, Kirfi, Giade katagum, Gamawa and Zaki have been identified by ECOWAS Flood Response to benefit from over three hundred million worth of Consumables and non consumable relief materials as well cash transfer, supported by the delegation from Red cross society, ministry of humanitarian and poverty reduction, foreign affairs ministry and Bauchi state Government.
For the Bauchi state Government, it is not a time for celebration, but a time to offer solidarity and support to the victims who were deeply affected, complimented by disbursing the same gesture to about 150 victims in Bauchi Local government.

One of the victims, Tanko Mato from Kirfi Local government, while appreciating ECOWAS for the gesture, appealed to the Bauchi state Government to construct a Dam that would protect water-ways flooding into Kirfi town.
Each Beneficiary is expected to receive a total sum of seventy five thousand Naira, 25kg of rice, 15kg of beans, 15 kilograms of garri, 5 litres of palm oil with essential Non food items.
