Cross River State Governor Bassey Otu has announced an increment in the minimum wage of workers in the State to N40,000 ahead of the expected new National Minimum Wage.
Governor Otu was speaking at a ceremony held at the U. J Esuene Sport Stadium to commemorate the 2024 Workers’ Day with the theme “the people first”.

The Governor emphasised the importance of prioritising the welfare of the people and assured of continuous prompt payment of salaries and pensions, alongside improvements in the work environment and increased employment opportunities in the state civil service.
He however urged the workers to reciprocate by enhancing their productivity levels.
