Organized Labour in Kogi state has called for the immediate implementation of the N35, 000 wage award for workers by the federal Government.
The Kogi state Chairman, Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Gabriel Amari, made the call in his May day celebration address in Lokoja on Wednesday.
It is the first may day celebration under the kogi state Governor Usman Ododo and in their usual tradition, Kogi workers in their numbers trooped out to observe the day.
The NLC Chairman in Kogi state, Gabriel Amari said the current N30,000 National Minimum Wage falls short of meeting basic needs of workers given the prevailing market conditions in the Country.

He appreciated governor Usman Ododo for the 100 percent salary paid to local government workers, the first in the last 16 years.
Governor Usman Ododo commended workers in KOGI state for their commitment to excellence despite the challenges in the Country.
The KOGI chief executive also commended the labour unions for their robust relationship with his administration and promised to always protect the rights and dignity of workers in the state.
