Super Eagles of Nigeria have booked their place in the semifinals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON with a commanding victory over Algeria following a 2-nil win to set up a semi-finals fixture with hosts, Morocco

The win marks a second consecutive semifinal appearance for the three-time African champions and keeps their quest for continental glory firmly on course.

Nigeria delivered a composed and clinical performance in a pulsating quarterfinal encounter, blending tactical discipline with incisive attacking play to overcome a resolute Algerian side.

Victor Osimhen led the charge with another decisive display. The Galatasaray striker opened the scoring before turning provider just 10 minutes later, supplying the assist for Akor Adams’ second goal in the 57th minute.

The contest lived up to expectations as one of the tournament’s marquee fixtures, but the Super Eagles asserted their authority, dominating proceedings across all areas of the pitch.

With the victory, Nigeria face Morocco in the semi-finals while Senegal will take on record winners, Egypt who defeated the defending champions, Côte d’Ivoire 3-2 to also move one step closer to continental glory. With dethronement of Côte d’Ivoire, new champions will emerge at the ongoing tournament.
