The Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Iormem Alia has called on Nigerians, particularly the people of the State to always pray and support the families of Nigerian soldiers who have sacrificed their lives for the good of the nation.

The Governor made the call at the armed forces remembrance day interdenominational Service at the first baptist church, lobi quarters, Makurdi.

He advised the people to remember the fallen heroes of the nation who had paid the supreme price to bring about peace and stability in the country.

“What we celebrate today is a remembrance of those who sacrificed their lives for the good of the rest of us. We must continue to thank God for their lives and offer prayers for their families”, the Governor added.

Governor Alia advised the people to change their way of thinking, avoid being divisive, and believe in the unity of Nigeria.

“We should wear a new hat of patriotism, loving ourselves, our nation, and our communities”. He added.

The Governor thanked the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) for organizing the Armed Forces Remembrance Day Interdenominational Service, extending his gratitude also to the Muslim community in Benue State for organizing a special Juma’atprayers Friday for the Armed Forces.

The CAN Chairman, Benue State Chapter, Wilfred Anagbe represented by his Deputy Jonathan Ugbede itemized the numerous achievements of Governor Alia during his short time in office and appealed to him to consider the road to the CAN Secretariat for construction.

“Words will fail me to appreciate your developmental stride. All that you’re doing will outlived you. I am an eye witness of your strides of development in Benue State”.

During the homily, Amos Musa sued for loyalty to God and to the country, saying the allegiance of the people to their nation is integral to the success story of that nation.

Highlights of the event include intercessory prayers for the leaders of Nigeria, and for peace, unity, and development of the nation.
