2026 Edo State FA Cup draw holds in Benin City

Draw for the 2026 Edo State FA Cup has been held in Benin City, with a total of 24 teams, including 21 male teams and three female teams, set to compete in this year’s tournament.

The event also highlighted a strategic partnership between DAAR Communications PLC and the Edo State Football Association, aimed at boosting grassroots football development and expanding opportunities for young talents across the state.

The venue for the draw of the 2026 Edo State FA Cup was buzzing with excitement as stakeholders, and football enthusiasts gathered to witness the pairing of teams.

This year’s tournament is drawing heightened interest, as media giant DAAR Communications Plc partners with the Football Association to deepen support for grassroots football.

Chairman of the Edo State Football Association, FA, Fred Erhunwunse, commends the Senator Monday Okpebholo-led administration for sustained investment in sports while also acknowledging the support of the Edo State Sports Commission.

He further highlights the role of DAAR Communications PLC as a major media partner in amplifying the reach of the competition.

A delegation from DAAR Communications, led by Head of Corporate Communications, Collins Uwaeze, says their involvement is driven by a commitment to youth engagement and talent discovery through sports.

Commissioner for Youth Affairs, Charity Amayaenvbo, notes that football remains a powerful tool for youth development.

Chairman of the State Sports Commission, Desmond Enabulele, represented by Permanent Secretary Patricia Amenze Efe, lauds the partnership and urges participants to uphold sportsmanship.

The organisers officially unveiled kits donated by DAAR Communications PLC for the last four teams of the tournament.

The moment sets the tone for the draw, as anticipation builds among participating teams, including defending champions Bendel Insurance and Edo Queens.
