The All Progressives Congress, APC has affirmed Ekiti Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, as the party’s consensus candidate for the 2026 governorship election in the state.
The affirmation followed a motion moved in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti state capital on Monday by the Senate Leader, Opeyemi Bamidele, and seconded by the Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Stephen Aribasoye.
In his remarks, Chairman of the Affirmation Congress Committee and Kogi Governor, Ahmed Ododo, said the exercise reflected the confidence of Ekiti State people in Oyebanji’s leadership and his remarkable achievements across various sectors.
Governor Ododo added that the APC remains a disciplined party, trusted by the people of Ekiti State for its commitment to good governance and continuity.
In his acceptance speech, Governor Oyebanji expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu and other party leaders for their support. He pledged to continue delivering on his development agenda and promised to reach out to other aspirants, including Kayode Ojo, to foster unity and strengthen the party ahead of the election.
