The 20th National Sports Festival has officially been declared open after an elaborate opening ceremony at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City.
The Minister of Youths and Sports, Sunday Dare, who represented President Muhammadu Buhari, declared the games opened.
He reaffirmed that the multi sports biennial event remains a major uniting force in Nigeria.

He urged the participants to compete honourably, in line with the objectives of the founding fathers.
Dare also commended the Edo State Government for their commitment in hosting the festival amid Covid-19 concerns.
