Katsina State Government in collaboration with the Victims Support Fund has flagged off the distribution of the third phase of Covid-19 palliatives, medical equipment, and hygiene products, in the state.

Governor Aminu Masari, while performing the symbolic ceremony at the Katsina Central Store said, about 2,211 most vulnerable households are to benefit from the food palliatives across the 34 local government areas of the state.

The Governor stressed that, the Covid-19 pandemic has adversely affected the economic and social lives of the people, who are also battling banditry in some front line local government areas.

Masari added that, to cushion the effects of the double headed monsters, the State Government has continued to do its best, to see to the welfare of the most vulnerable persons, by distributing palliatives. The third round of palliatives include items sourced by the government, as well as those donated by well spirited individuals and non governmental organisations.

The Governor emphasised that, to ensure equitable and efficient distribution of the palliatives and other medical equipment received as donations, the government has constituted a formidable committee, promising that justice shall be done.

One of the beneficiaries, Sadiya Yahaya on behalf of others, thanked the donors and the state government for the gestures.

She says, the palliatives would go a long way to solve some of their problems.

Each of the 2,211 vulnerable households is to get 10 kilograms each of rice, beans and maize, 2kg of salt, 4 litres of vegetable oil, while the treatment centres would get hand sanitizers, surgical masks, boots, gloves, hygiene kits and blankets for children.
