A 23-year-old man, Abdulazeez Abubakar of Dutsen Kura within Minna Metropolis of Niger State, has been arrested for stabbing to death his 20-year-old friend over a misunderstanding about a sachet of water meant for ablution.
Spokesman of the Police, Superintendent Wasi’u Abiodun, who confirmed the incident, said that an investigation is underway to determine the actual cause of the incident.
According to Abiodun, the incident occurred on December 17 at about 7.40pm, when a report was received indicating that there was a fight at Dutsen-Kura between a suspect and his friend from both addresses, leading to the death of the deceased.
Upon receipt of the report, Abiodun said police operatives of the GRA Division rushed to the scene and arrested Abubakar.

It was gathered that both the suspect and the deceased were childhood friends and resides along Adamawa road in the Dutsen-Kura-Hausa Area of Minna, the Niger State capital.
Eyewitnesses say the disagreement began over sachet water, popularly known as pure water, intended for ablution during preparations for the Maghrib prayer.
It was further gathered that what initially appeared to be a minor misunderstanding escalated into a violent confrontation.
The police said the incident is under investigation and the suspect will soon be transferred to the SCID, Minna for further action.
