The University of Maiduguri Vice-Chancellor, Professor Aliyu Shugaba said that 20,048 students are graduating from the regular undergraduate programmes, 6,940 from affiliated colleges, and 3,032 from the Centre for Distance Learning.

“A total of 147 students got First Class, out of which 86 came from the regular undergraduate programmes and 61 from Affiliated Colleges.”

For the postgraduate degrees, 1,698 students graduated.

The Vice-Chancellor said that the resilience of the university to remain open at the height of the Boko Haram insurgency, resulted in an increase in admissions during the period.

Vice President Kashim Shettima, who was conferred with an honorary doctorate, inspired the graduates, and harped on education as a service to humanity.

Similarly, Borno Monarch, the Shehu, former University of Maiduguri Registrar, Dahiru Bobbo, and BUA’s Chairman, Abdul Samad Rabiu, were also conferred with honorary doctorates.
