The Taraba state Judicial Panel of Enquiry and Restitution for Victims of Police Brutality has resumed sitting in Jalingo.

One of the victims of alleged police brutality,Sulaiman Ibrahim is demanding a #100m Naira compensation from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.

Twenty-five year old Sulaiman Ibrahim, lived a normal life with hopes of a brighter future, until March 2019 when he was shot at close range by operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, following an argument close to his family residence in Jalingo.

The injury sustained following the gun shot led to the amputation of his right leg and one year after the incident, Ibrahim lives every day with the physical and emotional scars of what happened.

He said the injury he sustained has ended his means of livelihood as a roofing carpenter.

The Judicial Panel of Enquiry and Restitution set up across the country, in response to the demands of the Endsars protesters, is for now the only hope for the long-awaited justice for many victims of the brutality by security operatives.
