Taraba

Three clergymen and one layperson, from the United Methodist Church of Nigeria in Taraba State, have been put behind bars by the Taraba State High Court, for sharing the images of the State’s Police Command with their international partners, based in the United States.

The State Police Public Relations officer said that the remanded clergymen were said to have been invited for questioning, over a case of disruption of the peace, filed against them by the Methodist Church, at the Taraba State Police Command, when they allegedly took photographs of the sensitive parts of the Command.

The police said, the act is criminal, and contravenes its official secret Act.

However, sympathisers of the remanded clergymen are crying wolf, saying that an apology was already written to the police on the action of the pastors in custody.

However, the body language of the police, indicates that ignorance of the law by the accused is no defence.

The clergymen have spent two days at the correctional centre, and will be arraigned before the magistrates court soon.
