Three persons have been reported dead while an unspecified number of persons are still missing, following Wednesday’s Trinity Spirit vessel explosion at Ukpokit Terminal, Escravos, in Delta State.
The cause of the Floating Production, Storage and Offloading vessel, FPSO, belonging to a separate petroleum company, which is yet to be ascertained, has caused a great degree of environmental pollution to the coastal communities, whose fishing activities have been threatened.
Confirming the incident, the management of the exploded vessel in a statement, claimed that there were no fatalities when the explosion occurred, with ten crew members on board.

The statement explained further that the company has commenced investigation concerning the safety and security of those on board the vessel.
Reacting to the statement released by Seplat, some staff of the company who spoke on anonymity, said three persons have been confirmed dead, while the other crew members are yet to be accounted for.
