It has been three weeks of power outage at the University College Hospital, UCH Ibadan in Oyo State, South-West Nigeria following disconnection by the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company, IBEDC.
Spokesperson of the hospital, Obafunmilayo who spoke to AIT.live confirmed the development. She however says the hospital is still in operation but is relying on generating plants due to the problems it has with IBEDC.
The hospital is therefore unable to maintain 24 hours of service delivery as it cannot run its power generating plants for that long. The development has given the impression that the hospital is on strike.

During a visit, AIT.live gathered that the hospital receives a monthly bill of about N60 million from IBEDC which is considered outrageous but unrealistic. The hospital has been unable to pay the bills after several attempts by the management to have them reduced to a reasonable sum.
Though as at the time of this report, IBEDC has not responded to the issues raised by the UCH management, it was gathered that the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu who is an indigene of Oyo State has intervened in the matter.
