Three Thousand youths in Akwa Ibom State are currently undergoing vocational and skills acquisition training in an initiative tagged: “Ibom 3,000 Project”.
Governor Udom Emmanuel who flagged off the project in Uyo, the State capital said the scheme is aimed at identifying, training, mentoring, and empowering existing Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SMSEs) and Start-Ups.
The 3,000 youths were selected from the 31 Local Government Areas of the State.
According to Governor Udom Emmanuel, represented by his deputy, Moses Ekpo, the scheme, which is in its first phase is meant to improve the capacity of beneficiaries in various aspects of human endeavour.
He maintained that SMEs remain the backbone of economies as they generate local capital and high level of productivity which result in economic growth.

The State Commissioner for Trade and Investment, Prince Akpabio stated that the scheme is aimed at training the youths to be self-reliant and relevant in the emerging industrial order in the state.
