At least 439 medicine shops in Akwa Ibom State, South-South Nigeria have been sealed by the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria, PCN for various offences.
Registrar of the Council, Elijah Mohammed who said this while speaking to newsmen in Uyo, the state capital after its enforcement team visited parts of the State, advised those selling drugs to obtain necessary approvals to avoid prosection.

The operation team led by the Director of Enforcement, Stephen Esumobi visited 600 premises used as pharmacies and patent medicine stores from where 439 made up of 42 pharmacies and 397 patent medicine stores were sealed for offences including, operating without registration, failure to renew premises license, dispensing ethical products without supervision of a pharmacist, selling medicines outside the approved list, poor storage and sanitary conditions among others.
Mohammed said the Council had received co-operation from operators in the State. He advised members of the public to always buy drugs from licensed pharmacies and simple remedies from licenced patent and propriety medicines vendors shops.
