Zangon Kataf has consistently been making headlines but for the wrong reasons.

The reason is the persistent attacks and senseless killings that have resulted in the loss of hundreds of lives.

Briefing journalists at a news conference in Samaru Kataf, on the unending attacks and killings in the area, The President of ACDA, Samuel Achi, explained that over 500 persons have lost their lives in the heinous attacks, while over 20 communities have been sacked, leaving thousands of people displaced, within the last six years.

The ACDA also blamed security operatives, for not acting decisively in tackling the issue head-on.

The association further explained that in 2023 alone, over 70 persons have been killed in some Atyab communities, including Ungwan Wakilli, Tanje, and Runji, among others.
