The Kano State Government is distributing N50,000 to each of the 5,200 women beneficiaries of the monthly women’s economic empowerment.
State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Aisha Lawal, said this at a one-day Citizens Engagement Workshop on the Domestication of the National Women Economic Empowerment Policy, organised by the ministry, in collaboration with the Development Research and Project Centre, (DRPC).
The Commissioner, represented by the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, said that the purpose of the meeting is to engage with citizens, gather feedback, and ensure that the policy is inclusive, effective and responsive to the needs of the most vulnerable women in society.
The workshop attracted representatives of Community-based Organisations, (CBOs), local women groups, people with special needs, and traditional and religious leaders.
