59 people confirmed killed in latest Armed attacks in Benue State

BENUE

Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia says a comprehensive head count by security agencies has revealed that the actual casualty figure in the latest Yelewata killings stands at 59, including 2 soldiers and a civil defense personnel.

Addressing journalists at the government house, Governor Alia said the official figures were arrived at after a physical head count by security agencies working with families of those killed, as all the security services were at the various meetings held after Saturday’s attack.

Governor Alia gave credit to his Nassarawa State counterpart for sharing intelligence on the killings.

Earlier, the Governor received a report from the panel of inquiry on militia activities in the Sankera axis of the State comprising Kastina-Ala, Ukum and Logo local councils.

He pledged to investigate those indicted in the report to ensure peace returns to the areas.
