No fewer than 6 people have sustained different degrees of injury as political thugs invaded the old Zamfara State Secretariat of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Gusau, Windows of the building and billboards on the premises were also destroyed in the attack.

The Secretariat is run by APC members loyal to former Governor Abdulaziz Yari and Senator Kabiru Marafa in the State.

Factional State Caretaker Chairman, Lawal Liman, after assessing the level of damage, described the development as unfortunate and unacceptable.

He said that, their camp will not be deterred or carried away by the wrong actions of sponsored political thugs, to destroy what he said was the legitimate State’s party secretariat in Gusau, the Zamfara State capital.

Liman told newsmen that the Abdulaziz Yari’s camp of the APC has written to the State Commissioner of Police to investigate those behind the attack, and bring them to justice, to serve as deterrent to others.

He said the former Governor Abdulaziz Yari’s camp welcomed Governor Bello Mohammed into the party, and called on him to be watchful of some elements, who want to foment trouble, so that he can bring stability, peace and order in the state.

Efforts to get the State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Mohammed Shehu, to react to the incident were unsuccessful.

It will be recalled that the State Secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP was converted to serve as the new APC Secretariat when Governor Mohammed recently defected to the party. However, members of the APC loyal to former Governor Abdulaziz Yari and Senator Kabiru Marafa have continued to operate the old party secretariat insisting that it remains the legitimate APC Secretariat in Zamfara State.
