8 arrested over killing of 3 female farm workers in Plateau

Three women were killed while working on their farm on Tuesday in Rafin Bauna, Miango District of Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State.


ait.live gathered, that the victims were refugees who returned to their farm to harvest Irish potatoes.


Spokesperson of the Irigwe Development Association, Malison Davidson, while confirming the incident said the women were killed in the afternoon metres away from a military checkpoint.

Meanwhile, Troops of the Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH) said it has arrested eight persons in connection with the shooting of the three women.


In a statement issued by the Information Officer of the OPSH Major Ishaku Takwa, said the troops earlier responded to a distress call that three women were shot on their farm close to Rafin Bauna and the Troops immediately mobilized to the scene and discovered two of the three women were shot dead on the spot, while one of them died while receiving treatment for the gunshot wounds.


He said the arrest of the eight suspects was made possible after the entire area was immediately cordoned off upon the arrival of the troops.
