Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State says former Governor of Akwa-Ibom state, Godswill Akpabio has been endorsed as the next President of the Senate in the incoming 10th National Assembly.
Ganduje who was a guest of Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State says the inner party caucus of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC has resolved that the South-South region of the country will produce the President of the Senate.

The Kano Governor called on Governor Ben Ayade to support the former Akwa-Ibom state Governor for the position explaining that the zoning arrangement was based on equity, fairness and justice.
He said Akapbio has the capacity and capability to unite Nigerians at the National Assembly as the number three citizen from the South-South region.
Governor Ayade while responding, commended his Kano State counterpart for supporting the South-South region for the position, assuring that Cross River State will give total support to Akpabio.
Akpabio who is one of the top contenders for the position of Senate President is the immediate past Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, and the Senate Minority Leader in the 8th Senate.
